Mr. Clarence Julius Murphy Sr., 86, native of Union County entered eternal rest on February 3, 2020. Affectionately known as “CJ”, he was born to the late Fred and Sallie Jeter Murphy on June 9, 1933.
He was preceded in death by his sisters: Iola Murphy Campbell, Elnora M. Glenn, Lillian M. Cooper, Minnie Lee M. Batts, and Lizzie M. Black and his brothers: Ed Douglas Murphy, Arzoalur Murphy Sr., Leroy Murphy, and Eugene Murphy.
CJ was an entrepreneur at heart. He was a professional logger, avid farmer and perfected many other trades. He was a devoted member of Thompson Chapel where he was a Deacon Emeritus.
He leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife of over 60 years, Mae Frances Prysock Murphy; three daughters: Mae Ruth Murphy of Union, Sally Jane Adamo of Pacolet and Gladys Sims (Frank); four sons: Clarence “Chico” Murphy Jr. of Pacolet, Billy Ray Murphy (Monica) of Spartanburg, Charles Murphy of Greensboro, NC and Rickey Murphy (Teresa) of Jonesville; a sister, Louise Black- Cunningham of Spartanburg and James Willie Murphy of Philadelphia, PA; nineteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
Sacred arrangements have been entrusted to SERENITY-MURRAY MORTUARY.
