Gaston Calvin Haywood Jr.

Mr. Gaston Calvin Haywood Jr. 77, entered peaceful rest on Monday, January 18, 2021 after a long illness. Calvin, as his family called him, was born April 3, 1943 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Zemora Haywood and Gaston Lipscomb. Calvin was a lifelong member of Cleveland Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was an excellent brick mason, by trade and known all over in the Tri-State area. Calvin was educated in the Spartanburg County School system. He graduated in the class of 1964 from Carver High School. In 1971, he married Bobby Jean Jefferies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Martha Shippy Haywood, one brother, Beauford Haywood; one sister, Martha Haywood; two uncles, Otis Haywood, and Glen Haywood; and one aunt, Eula Mae Haywood.

Left to mourn his passing, to celebrate his life and to cherish many fond memories, a loving and devoted family: his wife, Bobby Haywood; and son, Gaston Haywood III, both of the home; one daughter, Dana Haywood, of Spartanburg, SC; one sister, Bonnie Warner of Laurel, MD; three brothers, Joe Haywood, Robert Haywood, and Roy Haywood, all of Spartanburg, SC; five grandchildren; Alicia Haywood, Caitlyn Kelly, Jemora Haywood, Payton Haywood, and D’Miya Broadus all of Spartanburg, SC; four Godchildren, Warren Hughes, Rodriques Bogan, Peddy Baker, and Tron Foster and many devoted family members and friends.
