Janice Ruthene Ray

Ms. Janice Ruthene Ray, 71 of Woodruff, SC entered into eternal rest Friday, March 26, 2021, at Spartanburg Medical Center.  Affectionally known as "Bay Bay", she was a native of Woodruff, SC, and the daughter of the late Deacon Clyde Thomas and Sarah Ruth Thomas. She received a 2-year degree from Denmark Technical College and was a spirited Entrepreneur who owned her own Cafe. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Woodruff, SC, where she faithfully served as an usher and volunteered on TNT 4 Jesus Christ Ministry.

Janice enjoyed life. She loved her family, and friends and was always there for others.  A diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, you could find her watching TV, entertaining friends, or simply relaxing in her she-shed that she named the "Boomerang" room.  Janice, a beautiful woman, inside and out; who had a way with words, will surely be missed by all that knew her.

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by three brothers, Willie Houston Green, Billy "Watt" Green and Bennie "Bo-Bay" Martin; two sisters, Mary L. Brown and Hattie Grace Rice; and biological father, Leroy Woodruff.

Janice leaves to cherish fond and loving memories to her loving children, Willie Jujuan Ray of Woodruff, SC and Tangela LaVonne (Aliya) Ray of Simpsonville, SC; three brothers, Clyde Davis (Priscilla) Thomas and Gary Stanley (Sarah) Thomas and Jasper "Jett" Martin, all of Woodruff, SC; two sisters, Patricia Levon Thomas of Charlotte, NC and Hazel Winborne of Decatur, GA; nine grandchildren, Da’rell Ray, Ares Ray, Precious Ray, Aubrey Ray, Keyeria Ray, Ashuntae Hunter, Aquavious Ray, Shannie Rowland, and Zavier Rowland; five great-grandchildren, Zyion Ray, Carter Ray, Cynleigh Ray, Prince Khalee Irby, and Aquavious Ray Jr.; stepmom, Martha Woodruff of Woodruff, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. 

Sacred arrangements have been entrusted to SERENITY-MURRAY MORTUARY.
