Mr. John Leonard Reid age 66 of Lawrenceville, GA, folded his earthly tent Saturday, July 25, 2020, at his home. Mr. Reid was born June 19, 1954 in Abbeville County to the late James Wardlaw and Hattie Lee Reid. He attended Calhoun Falls High School, and due to his love of baseball he was able to continue his education at Allen University. Graduating with a degree in Mathematics, John became a math teacher at Calhoun Falls High School where he coached basketball and football. He made an impact on the students that he taught and coached; he is affectionately known as Coach Reid to many. He later was employed at Phillips State Prison where he served over 13 years. Mr. Reid was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who worked hard, took care of his family, and enjoyed sports. He might have not been a man of many words, but when he spoke you knew his words were genuine.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife Carrie J. Reid; sister, Cynthia Reid; and brothers Leroy Calhoun and Harold Wardlaw.
John leaves behind two daughters, Candice Reid of the home, and Sandy (Dexter) Henry of Fayetteville, GA; two grandsons Kingston Reid and Joshua Donaldson; four brothers Willie Reid, Clarence (Bobbie ) Reid, Curtis (Evelyn) Reid of Calhoun Falls, SC and Reverend Lawrence (Lena) Reid of Warwick, RI; three sisters, Lovella (Charles) Turman of Calhoun Falls, Jean Pearson of Mullins, SC, and Sara (Howard) Miller of Atlanta, GA; two aunts, Rebecca Thomas of East Orange, NJ and Willie C. Spraggins of Chicago, IL; a brother-in-law, Dennis Calhoun of Calhoun Falls, SC; host of nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
