Reverend Dr. Lawrence Robert Meadows

Reverend Dr. Lawrence Robert Meadows, one who was called to be an orator of the Gospel was born on September 22, 1977 to Lawrence R. (Betty) Melvin and the late Joan Meadows in Columbia, SC.

Reverend Meadows was a 1995 Honor Graduate of Paul M. Dorman High School, Roebuck, SC. He obtained his Bachelor in Arts, Summa Cum Laude in 1999, from Wofford College.  He continued his education at Gardner-Webb University with a Masters in Divinity in 2002 and a Doctorate in Ministry in 2008.  After receiving the call from God, his pastoral journey began where he was licensed under Reverend Malachi Duncan and ordained in the Tyger River Association under the late Reverend Dr. Leon C. Rector.  He was also the former President of the Tyger River Youth Association and former Pastor of New Bethel Baptist Church in Woodruff, SC. He was a faithful member of Foster Chapel Church in Roebuck, SC.

Reverend Meadows lived by ideas and principles from which he never wavered.  He believed that every family deserved excellent, dignified, and professional services.  His examples of uncompromising integrity of hard work in any just cause, and an inexhaustible passion for excellence, was exemplified in his every undertaking.  His beliefs were his commitments whether to life-long education, to quality, or to innovation.  It was demonstrated in his absolute devotion to serving God, his community, and the families entrusted to his care.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Addie B. and James Milton Meadows.

Reverend Meadows leaves to cherish fond and loving memories: His loving wife of 16 years, Angela Cobbs Meadows and his children whom he adored, Addie M. Meadows and Lawson R. Meadows all of the home; his father, Lawrence R. (Betty) Melvin of Columbia, SC; two brothers, Craig (Lindsay) Melvin of Westport, CT and Ryan (Zully) Melvin of Columbia, SC; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews; and other relatives and dear friends.

On the morning of Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at the age of forty-three, this world lost a man who was full of energy and will forever be missed.  Reverend Meadows passed to the care and keeping of a loving and mercified God, with whom he is now resting in everlasting peace.  We give thanks to our Lord and Savior for his time with us was well spent.
